So, I was sitting here, thinking to myself about Spock’s death scene, and the argument over Kirk doing the Vulcan salute (if Kirk was actually giving a Vulcan kiss through the glass or not). And obviously, a lot of non-slashers will say, no it’s just a salute! There’s glass between them anyway! They weren’t gay! Okay. There’s the argument from the slashers of, what if you remove the glass? That makes it a kiss.

But no one ever makes this argument: why would Kirk be giving a Vulcan salute to a dying man? Doesn’t the Vulcan salute essentially mean “live long and prosper” or “peace and long life”. I know it has been used as farewells, but it usually has the meaning of “live long and prosper” not “sorry that you’re dying, sucks to suck”. Why would Kirk be saying that to a dying Spock?

So, by pure logic, it must be a kiss. You can not convince me otherwise.
